Fenn Wright's fishery sales specialist Fisheries4sale.com has been appointed to sell the angling interests of Cemex Angling in what is believed to be the biggest ever single sale of angling venues in the UK.
The sale involves the disposal of some 20 separate venues including some of the UK best specimen carp waters with such well known names as Yateley, Frimley, Horton and Longfield.
Marketing of the venues is expected to start in May although Fisheries4sale.co.uk's Martin Freeman said specific prices guides will not be announced until due dilligence has been carried out. He added: "We will be undertaking a lot of preparatory work in advance so that when interested parties make a bid they will receive the legal pack quickly."
Although Martin Freeman would not be drawn on the expected price the fisheries could make - Fisheries.co.uk understands the figure to be in the region of £5 million to £10 million. However, Martin Freeman said that the figure would be pitched at a level which would "maximise interest" in the sale. The venues would be available either individually or as a whole, he added.
Marketing of the venues will be carried out through Fisheries4sale.com's website at Fisheries4sale.com where full details about how the venues are to be sold is going to be made available. It is proposed viewings will take place over a number of weekends with dates to be confirmed shortly. All interested parties should complete the registration form which is available on the Fisheries4sale.com website and either e-mail, fax or post completed forms to Fenn Wright. CEMEX Angling has become the latest casualty of the tough economic climate after its parent company announced that it is to put the angling side of its business up for sale.
In a brief statement, CEMEX UK Operations Limited said: "A difficult decision has been made to put CEMEX Angling up for sale. As part of the regular and on-going business reviews, we have decided that angling is not core to our operations and in the current economic climate we have limited resources and capital to develop the business in the future. We will be honouring existing tickets sold and will be selling tickets for this season only.
"CEMEX Angling was started in the 1960ís as part of the Hall's Aggregates business and has been an important part of our company, providing an excellent and sustainable after-use of the quarried land, much valued by anglers."
Cemex Angling is famous for its big carp waters and is the largest commercial angling organisation of its kind in the UK offering over 70 mature lakes and 20 stretches of river.
